Two more players have pulled out of South Africa’s squad ahead of the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria.
Hannover of Germany centre-back, Ime Okon, who has a Nigerian father, and Orlando Pirates’ Patrick Maswanganyi are the latest withdrawals.

Head coach, Hugo Broos has called up Sipho Mbule, and Thabo Moloisane as replacements for the duo.

Broos lamented the unavailability of several of his key players for the crucial qualifiers.

“This is one of the most difficult preparations I’ve had since I’ve been the coach of Bafana Bafana. We have many injuries to important players,” the Belgian told reporters.

Bafana Bafana will be away to Lesotho on Friday, before hosting Nigeria at the Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein next week Tuesday.
