Court grants rights activist, Ojei bail after police arraignment in Delta

A magistrate court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday, released a self-acclaimed human rights activist, Vitor Ojei also known as WongBox after meeting his bail conditions.

WongBox was arraigned in Court by the Delta State Police Command led by CP Olufemi Abaniwonda on three count charge bothering on threat to life, assault occasioning harm and threatening violence contrary to Sections 355,86 and 249 of the Criminal Code.

WongBox was, however, granted bail after meeting the stringent bail conditions by the court.

Promptly, Civil Society Organisations led by Harrison Gwamnishu, Harrison Itulua and others rallied round him and ensured he was released immediately.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer,SP Bright Edafe in his Facebook timeline earlier on Tuesday, said,”Self acclaimed activist Victor Ojei popularly known as “Wong box” was today arraigned and remanded in prison custody pending when his bail conditions are met.

“He was charged to court on three count charges of threat to life, assault occasioning harm and threatening violence contrary to sections 355, 86, and 249 of the criminal code. Nobody is above the law.”
