Price of cooking gas reduces in Nigeria

The average price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, known as cooking gas, has dropped on a month-on-month basis.
This is the case, as the price of 12.5 kilogrammes of cooking gas decreased to N20,609.48 in July 2025, down from the N21,010.56 recorded the previous month.

The National Bureau of Statistics disclosed this in its LPG Price Watch for July released on Tuesday.

This means that 12.5 kg of cooking gas decreased by 1.19 percrnt on month-on-month.

Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, the LPG price rose by 44.51 per cent from N14,261.57 in July 2024.

“The average retail price for refilling a 12.5 kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (cooking gas) decreased by 1.91 percent on a month-on-month basis from N21,010.56 in June 2025 to N20,609.48 in July 2025.

“On a year-on-year basis, this rose by 44.51 per cent from N14,261.57 in July 2024,” NBS wrote on X.

Imo, Delta and Rivers States recorded the highest prices of LPG in the period under review, while Kebbi, Nasarawa and Kwara are the states with the lowest prices.

Meanwhile, DAILY POST reports that as of September 1, 2025, the average price of 12.5 kg of cooking gas stood at N15,000 in Abuja and environs.
