Ondo SDP governorship candidate, Bamidele Akingboye is dead

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, during the 2024 governorship election in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, is dead.

Akingboye, popularly known as OBA, reportedly died on Wednesday morning at his Lagos residence.

Confirming Akingboye’s passing in a statement, his aide, Oyeniyi Iwakun noted that details of his burial will be communicated to the public in due course.

“He is survived by wives, children, grandchildren, and siblings. The family requested privacy during this period of grief. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course,” the statement said.

As at the time of this report, the cause of the politician’s death has not been revealed.

DAILY POST reports that Akingboye lost the November, 16, 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State to the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
