Suspected militias kill youth president in Plateau

A community youth leader has been shot dead in an ambush by suspected armed militias in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to Zagazola Makama, the attack took place in the early hours of Thursday when a joint patrol team of soldiers, vigilantes, and hunters came under fire along the Horop–Laban–Nawala feeder road, a border route linking Plateau and Nasarawa states.

The victim, identified as 47-year-old Mr. Dabit Clement Joseph, popularly called Chepti, was the Youth President of Horop District. He was killed on the spot during the attack.

His body has since been evacuated to the morgue at Luna Hospital in Bokkos.

Police authorities confirmed that investigations have begun, with security forces intensifying efforts to track down the perpetrators of the ambush.
