Kabiru Adamu security analyst, has stated that authorities are already informed on the whereabouts of the bandits as well as the activities across the security sector but lacks the accountability which remains a challenge.

Speaking on Channels Tv morning Brief on Friday, He explained that with proper accountability had been in place, we would not be where we are today.

“Everyone within the security space knows where the bandits are. Beyond their physical presence, there is also knowledge of their business activities.

“So, the governor’s statement is correct. What is missing is accountability within the security system.”

He recalled that as far back as 2019, the military identified 60 bases belonging to bandits, yet there has been no clear report on how many of those bases have been destroyed.

“It would be interesting for the military to explain to Nigerians how many of those 60 identified bases were neutralised between 2019 and 2023, and how many have been destroyed since this current administration came on board,” he said.

Adamu stressed that the problem is not a lack of information but a failure to hold security agencies accountable.

He urged the National Assembly to step up its monitoring and oversight functions.

“If proper accountability and oversight had been in place, we would not be where we are today. At the very least, the violence should be contained to create space for other peacebuilding measures to take place,” he added.
