Police apprehend suspected telecom mast vandals in Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom State Police command has arrested one
Amisu Bala, a 30-year old male for alleged involvement in stealing vandalized telecommunication mast along
Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The command Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Uyo on Friday.

John said the arrest was made on Tuesday September 2, following actionable intelligence.

According to the PPRO, “Operatives were dispatched to Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo, where a group of individuals were reportedly loading a recently vandalized telecom mast into a truck. Upon the arrival of the patrol team, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning a green Isuzu truck with registration number AFG 517 XA.

“Operatives pursued the fleeing individuals, leading to the arrest of one suspect, Amisu Bala, a 30-year-old male. He is currently in custody and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.”

She said both the recovered truck and the stolen telecom mast are in police custody adding that investigations are ongoing as efforts are made to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate.
