Former Nigerian coach, Samson Siasia, has pinpointed the weaknesses of the Super Eagles ahead of the all-important World Cup qualifying game against South Africa.

Nigeria managed to beat Rwanda 1-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday to keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup alive.

The Super Eagles are now in South Africa where they face a difficult task of beating the Bafana Bafana on their home soil to further brighten their chances of going to the World Cup, taking place in US, Canada and Mexico next year.

Siasia, a former coach of the Super Eagles, told Super Sports that Nigerian strikers are not receiving the needed passes from the midfielders.

The former international said he was confused about the formation being used by Eric Chelle, pointing out that Nigeria’s right side is weak.

“Even Osimhen was there, how many times did he actually get the balls? That’s the issue on the right side.

“Nothing is happening from there. So I don’t understand what formation they are playing.

“We have to do better than what we’re doing to create more chances at all.”

Nigeria remain in contention to qualify for the 2026 World Cup following the hard-fought 1-0 win over the Wasps.

The only goal of the night came from the boots of Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare, who came off the bench in the second half.

Siasia added that the win over the Wasps would give the Super Eagles plenty of confidence heading into the clash against South Africa.

Siasia said that Nigeria must have a clear game plan, knowing what to do to secure at least a point or even a victory.
