Team captain William Troost-Ekong has said South Africa are under pressure to beat the Super Eagles in Tuesday night’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture, DAILY POST reports.

The rivals will clash in what is expected to be a thrilling contest at the Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw when they met earlier in the qualifiers.

South Africa and Nigeria head into the game with different ambitions.

A win will see Bafana move closer to their first appearance at the mundial since the 2010 edition, while victory will boost Nigeria’s chances of securing the ticket.

“We are just focused on the opportunity ahead, and I also think the pressure is also on South Africa. We have everything to gain,” Troost-Ekong told a press conference.
