Troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, have launched an operation to rescue abducted villagers and track down armed bandits who attacked Wake and Gadanaji communities in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a report by security analyst Zagazola via his X handle, the attack occurred at about 5:55 a.m. on Sunday, when a large group of armed bandits invaded Wake village, firing sporadically.
Several residents were killed, including Elisha Pius, Japhet Bitrus, Obadiah Joshua, Luka Augustine, and Paul Augustine of Wake village, as well as Ezekiel Augustine, Ishaya Paul, and Bulus Bawa of Gadanaji village.
Others sustained injuries, among them Sanda Christopher, Issac Elisha, Moses Christian, Godday Clement, Janet Godday of Wake, and Sunday Nuhu, Zakariah Anthony, and Gideon Pius of Gadanaji.
A yet-to-be-determined number of villagers were also abducted and taken to unknown destinations.
Troops were said to have mobilized immediately to the scene, evacuating the injured to hospitals for treatment, with some referred to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna.
Military authorities confirmed that combing operations have been intensified to rescue those abducted and apprehend the attackers.
