Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to sanction any politicians or political parties involved in early campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Featuring on Sunday’s Politics, a programme on Channels Television, Falana urged INEC to charge violators to court.

The senior lawyer also described campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections as abnormal.

“By the way, INEC is required to charge some of these guys before the court. Let them come to court and say, ‘Sorry, my Lord, there is no provision for punishment.

“If you fail to comply with the order of the court, you have committed contempt and you will go to jail,” he said.

DAILY POST recalls that the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project had earlier on Sunday threatened INEC to punish offenders of early campaigns or face legal action.
