Insecurity: NYSC relocates Kwara orientation camp to Ilorin

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has relocated its orientation camp from Yikpata, in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, to Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, due to security concerns.

DAILY POST recalls that some communities in Edu and Patigi local government areas, in the Kwara North Senatorial District, have recently been under siege by armed bandits.

NYSC Kwara State Coordinator Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua who confirmed the relocation on Thursday, disclosed that it was approved by the state government following rising insecurity in the area.

According to him, the decision became necessary after security concerns were raised by perpetrators and enemies of progress.

Onifade revealed that soldiers and other security forces will be deployed to guarantee the safety of corps members during the three-week orientation exercise.

“We are fully prepared to host the orientation course and the welfare of participants will be safeguarded,” he added.

The coordinator said corps members are expected to report between September 24 and October 14, 2025, while a delegation from NYSC headquarters will inspect the temporary venue in Ilorin.
