Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has hit out at the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections, Pastor Tonye Cole.

According to Wike, Cole cannot sit at the same table with him to discuss politics, either in Rivers State or in Nigeria generally.

Cole had criticised Wike over his relationship with the ruling APC while still claiming to be a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He said Wike should not confuse people about his political loyalty, saying, “Is he APC or is he PDP? As far as we know today, he is PDP.”

Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Wike said Cole is not at his level in Nigerian politics.

“I saw the clips one [where] Pastor Tonye Cole said I’m confusing; he should continue to be confused,” he said.

“At my level of politics, we are not on the same level. Tonye Cole cannot talk about the politics of Rivers and Nigeria and say he’s going to sit down with me, he has no character.”
