Police Arrest Two Women For Stealing Children In Abia Church, Rescue Victims

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, made this known during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Umuahia on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Child theft

The Abia State Police Command has apprehended two women, 58-year-old Louis Osueke and 42-year-old Esther Jude, for allegedly stealing from a church in Okpuumuobo, Aba.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, made this known during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Umuahia on Friday, September 19, 2025. 
 
Danladi stated that the stolen children, a 6-year-old girl, Chidinma Uzochukwu and a 10-month-old baby, were safely rescued from the suspects and reunited with their family. 
 
“On September 17, 2025, at about 1845 hours, leveraging on credible intelligence, officers from Abia state Police Command conducted a successful operation, leading to the arrest of Lois Osueke “female” 58 years old, a native of Umuohia Village, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Imo State and Esther Jude “female” 42 years old, a native of Umuimeka Village, Owerri West LGA, Imo State, in connection with a case of child stealing that occurred on September 7, 2025, at Anglican Church, Okpuumuobo, Aba, Abia State,”
the Commissioner stated.
 
“Two children namely; Chidinma Uzochukwu “female” 6 yrs old, and a ten-month-old baby were safely rescued from the suspects. Investigation is ongoing.”
