President Donald Trump is set to host President Recep Erdogan at the White House in furtherance of the United States-Turkey bilateral relations.
“We are working on many Trade and Military Deals with the President,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday while announcing the meeting slated for September 25.
Trump said that the large-scale purchase of Boeing aircraft, a major F-16 Deal, and a continuation of the F-35 talks are expected to “conclude positively.”
In a post on X, Erdogan expressed his belief that the meeting will “contribute to the cessation of wars and conflicts in our region within the framework of our common global peace vision.”
The two leaders will speak with the press at the Oval Office before proceeding to a private door session to be attended by only senior officials of both nations.
Apart from bilateral talks, Trump and Erdogan are expected to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war, developments within the North Atlantic Treaty, and Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
In April, Erdogan stated that Turkey would not stop fighting for the recognition of Palestine as an independent state, accusing Israel of attempting to chase Gazans from “the land where they were born.”
In July, an international campaign for a two-state solution was collectively endorsed at the New York Declaration and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September.
The Chinese government recently threw its weight behind the Declaration supported by the United Kingdom, and other countries in the Arab League, BRICS, and the European Union.
But Israel continues to assert its opposition to a Palestinian state. “This place belongs to us. We will safeguard our land,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed during Thursday’s signing of the controversial E1 expansion plan.
