In a hilarious twist of events, a student who simply followed advice to “go home and rest” during an academic break has unintentionally become a source of laughter and relatability across social media.
The young woman, whose viral clip has been making the rounds online, shared how she returned to her family home expecting peace, home-cooked meals, and some much-needed relaxation.
Unfortunately, instead of rest, she was swiftly drafted into full-blown domestic duties, starting with the physically demanding art of pounding and molding fermented cassava dough, known locally as fufu.
What she had hoped would be a restful holiday quickly turned into what many online are calling a “home-based bootcamp.”
The traditional preparation of fufu is no joke: from boiling the cassava to the intense pounding and kneading, it’s a full-body workout that requires precision, teamwork, and a whole lot of muscle. Her mom made sure she didn’t sit this one out.
Social media users couldn’t get enough of the scene, flooding the comments with hilarious takes and similar stories of their own “holiday surprises” at home. One user joked, “Going home is never just rest—it’s unpaid labor with love.”
