Popular health influencer, Aproko Doctor, has issued a stern warning about the dangers of vaping after sharing a disturbing case involving a 24-year-old man who is now battling for his life.

Sharing multiple tweets on X, the medical doctor stated that the young man was rushed to the hospital, gasping for air. He had no history of asthma and did not smoke cigarettes, but was a heavy user of vapes.

His friends who rushed him to the hospital thought he was having a panic attack, but he wasn’t; his lungs were severely damaged.

Doctors later discovered that the patient believed vaping was just “flavoured water vapour” and a safer alternative to smoking.

A part of his tweet read;

A 24-year-old was rushed into the hospital last week, gasping for air. He’s not a smoker, no asthma history. But he vapes heavily. His friends thought he was having a panic attack. He wasn’t. His lungs were severely damaged. The hospital told us that he thought vaping was just “flavoured water vapour” and a safe alternative to cigarettes. This is a dangerous lie that has become popular in lounges from Lekki to Abuja.

This misconception, Aproko Doctor warns, is both dangerous and increasingly common among young Nigerians.

As of now, the young man’s condition remains critical, and doctors are monitoring him closely to determine whether a lung transplant might be necessary.
