
The Adamawa State Government has reopened the privately owned Sa’adatu College of Health Technology, Mubi.
The college is one of 24 health institutions across the state that were shut down months ago for failing to meet operational standards.
The reopening followed Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s approval of new directives regulating the operations of private Colleges of Health Technology in the state.
According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, who issued a statement on Monday evening, “Following a comprehensive review by the Committee on the Establishment of Private Colleges of Health Technology, the governor approved the reopening of Sa’adatu College of Health Technology, Mubi, having met the minimum requirements set by the state government.”
He further disclosed that eight other institutions have been granted a six- to twelve-month window to improve their infrastructure, staffing, and accreditation status before being allowed to resume full operations.
The affected colleges are Savannah College of Health Science and Technology, Yola; Central College of Health Science and Technology, Yola; School of Health Technology, Jimeta; NAFAN College of Health Science and Technology, Jimeta; School of Health Technology, Mayo Belwa; Humanity College of Health Science and Technology, Hong; Abubakar Isa Ahmadu College of Health Science and Technology, Mubi; and EYN Brethren College of Health Technology, Garkida.
Meanwhile, fifteen institutions that failed to meet the minimum standards will remain permanently closed pending further directives.
Wonosikou listed them as Fat-Hur Rahman College of Health Science and Technology, Yola; Bell Dome College of Health Science and Technology, Wauru Jabbe; Guyuk College of Health Science and Technology, Guyuk; Human Campus of the College of Administration and Human Resource Management, Bambam Gombe; City Gate College of Health Science and Technology, Demsa; Dr Umar Adamu Sanda Sugu College of Health Science and Technology, Ganye; School of Health Technology, Jada; Professor Jibril Aminu College of Health Science and Technology, Song; and Pan-Africa College of Health Science and Technology, Gombi, among others.
