The singer’s comment drew reactions online, with many fans weighing in on the pressures that accompany fame and public image in the entertainment industry.

During the same interview, Bella Shmurda also addressed criticisms that Nigerian artists charge high performance fees, explaining that producing music is a costly process.

“Making an album alone, just paying producers and everyone I worked with, is about $100,000. Then I still have to shoot music videos, promote songs on the radio, TV, and online platforms. That’s a lot. If I go for a show and I don’t charge something beneficial to me in the long run or at least covers my cost of production, it’s not worth it. We’re not overcharging,” Bella explained.
