Police present N33.8m to families of deceased officers in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques worth N33,816,610.97 to 50 families of police officers who died in active service.

The presentation ceremony, held on Thursday, at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

Sani said the initiative, introduced by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was aimed at supporting the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and boosting morale among serving personnel.

He described the gesture as a reflection of the IGP’s compassion and dedication to the welfare of officers and their families, adding that it had brought joy and relief to many bereaved households.

“The Inspector-General’s magnanimity continues to boost morale, enhance performance, and uplift the spirit of our officers across the country,” the Commissioner said, while praying for God’s guidance and protection for the police chief.

Sani also advised the beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely for the long-term benefit of their dependents.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Sonnen Simeon Mome expressed gratitude to the IGP for the support, saying it demonstrated that the Force had not forgotten the sacrifices of the fallen heroes.

“This gesture shows that the Nigeria Police Force still remembers the sacrifices of our loved ones,” he said, assuring that the money would be put to good use.
