
Details of the 47 Federal Unity Colleges closed by the Federal Government over the deteriorating security situation across the country have emerged.
DAILY POST reports that the Federal Government, in a notice issued to all principals of Unity Colleges by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Secondary Education, Office of the Minister of Education, announced the closure of the colleges.
The development follows recent attacks on schools in Kebbi and Niger states, where several schoolchildren were kidnapped.
The notice partly read: “Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breach, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of 47 federal unity colleges.”
The notice added that the closure takes immediate effect.
