
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has ordered the closure of all boarding secondary schools in the state as a proactive measure to safeguard students.
The directive was contained in a statement signed and issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Bukar Aji Bukar.
The statement read in part: “Due to the recent security challenges we are facing in the country and the need to protect the lives and future of our younger ones, the government of Yobe State, under the leadership of His Excellency Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, directed that all boarding secondary schools in the state should be closed with immediate effect.
The schools will be reopened as soon as the security situation improves.”
The statement further directed that principals of the affected schools ensure strict compliance.
