A man in Ogun State has raised alarm after Fulani herdsmen reportedly invaded his farm with their cattle, destroying his crops.
“These people are just being evil“
The victim lamented, “can somebody just imagine this? Inside the farm where I cultivated. Can you just see that these people are just being evil.”
The attack on the farm has intensified concerns about farmers’ security in the state, as communities report increasing clashes with herders over farmland.
Social media reactions
The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with Nigerians expressing frustration over insecurity and the perceived inaction of authorities:
@leespills: “Land grabbing at its peak!”
@Engrvirus: “Ogun State ain’t safe anymore o. Dem don kidnap 3 children for here and caught a woman doing child trafficking. Y’all should stay sharp.”
@Ahindehezikiah: “Open grazing is not good for farmers. The government should ban it.”
@EzezeGT: “But I thought Ogun State governor said everywhere in Ogun State is peaceful.”
@AbidemiBlogenese: “This is the first straw. They frustrate your farmers and when you retaliate since the government won’t do anything, they result to kidnapping and banditry. Their reason; you kill their cows so terror is the only way they can make a living.”
@FransiscoBrainy: “How can one tribe be disturbing the whole country like this?”
While residents continue to call for stricter enforcement against open grazing and better protection for farmers, concerns persist that repeated attacks could undermine agricultural productivity and the livelihoods of rural communities.
