A Nigerian missionary has sparked conversation on X (Twitter) after issuing a stern message to Christian men, especially pastors.
In his post, he criticized the growing trend of preachers illustrating their messages with stories that portray their spouses in an embarrassing or derogatory manner.
According to him, they should desist from using their wives as negative examples during sermons, as such behavior is disrespectful and undermines the dignity of the women who support them.
The missionary insisted that anything short of praising one’s wife as the best thing that ever happened after salvation should be off-limits on the pulpit.
He stressed that even if pastors have good intentions, negative illustrations about their wives distract listeners from the message and shift attention to the embarrassing examples instead.
His tweet has since drawn reactions from many online users, with supporters agreeing that pastors should uphold their wives with honor both at home and in public ministry.
Below are some of the comments;
“Far too common! And it’s never something good. The tone and the manner in which they even speak is so annoying. Cause tell me what is funny about the fact that you killed your wife’s dream.”
“The ones I have seen the past two days, if I say my mind, I would insult people, because what in the name of wickedness is all of these?”
“They are supposed to preach Jesus, not themselves or their wives. Of course, there is no way the self will not be glorified when such happens. Offences must come out from such.”
“Pastors are mostly known for their lack of emotional intelligence! Cause imagine a supposed grown man saying he prevented his wife from achieving her dreams in big 2025 and he is laughing o. Awon arindin.”
