The Federal Government has officially granted approval for the Victor Attah International Airport in Akwa Ibom State to commence full international flight operations.

This development was confirmed on Thursday following a high-level meeting between Governor Umo Eno and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

The upgrade elevates the airport’s status, placing it among the select Nigerian airports authorised to handle international traffic.

This move is expected to significantly enhance global connectivity, boost tourism, and stimulate business growth within the region.

According to the outcome of the meeting, international operations at the airport are scheduled to fully commence in the first quarter of 2026.
