Army neutralises 8 terrorists, arrests 51 in major national operations

The Nigerian Army executed a decisive nationwide offensive between November 29 and December 1, 2025, delivering major blows to criminal and terrorist networks across multiple regions.

The operations resulted in the neutralisation of eight terrorists and violent extremists, the arrest of 51 suspects, and the rescue of 27 victims.

A substantial cache of weapons and illicit items was also recovered.

In the North East, troops from the 151, 152, and 192 Task Force Battalions in Borno State were highly effective, neutralising four ISWAP/JAS terrorists during ambush and clearance operations.

Although no victims were rescued in these specific actions, troops responded to infiltration attempts around Chibok.

The arsenal recovered from the operations included three AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines containing 70 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 31 rounds of 12.7mm, 171 rounds of 7.62x54mm linked ammunition, 183 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition, an AK-47 working part and a Baofeng radio.

Troops operating under Operation WHIRL STROKE and Operation ENDURING PEACE across Plateau, Taraba, Benue, Kogi, and Kaduna States were responsible for the bulk of the humanitarian successes.

A total of 20 victims were rescued across these regions, including seven women and one minor rescued from Tsanyawa/Kankia.

The total number of 51 suspects arrested includes 2 suspected kidnappers in Panyam, 4 human traffickers in Sardauna, 13 illegal miners in Lau, and 25 drug suspects arrested in joint raids with the NDLEA in Bayelsa and Rivers States.

They also arrested a notorious gunrunner, Shuaibu Isah (aka Alhaji), while attempting to receive 1,000 rounds of ammunition, marking a breakthrough.

In Taraba State, troops neutralised four violent extremists and recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles during a communal-clash response in Karim Lamido.

Furthermore, 76 rustled cattle were recovered in Plateau State and returned to their owners.

In an interception in Kaduna State, troops seized vehicles transporting 5,000kg of gelatine explosives, 3,000m of cordtex fuse, 10 electric detonators, and 1,000m of connecting wire, leading to ongoing investigations with other security agencies.

In the South-South region, anti-oil theft operations resulted in the shutdown of an illegal refining site and the destruction of approximately 1,000 litres of stolen crude.

The Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding all Nigerians and ensuring that criminals and their collaborators have no safe haven.
