The Accord Party has expressed readiness to welcome Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State into its ranks as he considers options for his second-term bid in the 2026 off-cycle governorship election.
Speaking on Wednesday in Lagos, the Lagos State Chairman of the party, Mr Dele Oladeji, made the declaration following Adeleke’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has been plagued by leadership crises in recent months. Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, is reportedly exploring a more stable political platform ahead of the polls.
Oladeji described the Accord Party as a well-organised and dependable platform, capable of providing the stability Adeleke requires to pursue his ambitions.
“We are waiting for his declaration. That is what we can say for now. We are waiting for when he will declare for the Accord. In the Accord Party, we are ready for him. Whenever he decides to step in, we are set to receive him,” he said.
Highlighting the advantages of the Accord Party, Oladeji said the platform offers freedom from internal wrangling, godfather interference, and structural ambiguity, elements that he implied had plagued other parties.
“Accord is a very stable and sanitised political platform. We have no factions and no godfathers. Any candidate who joins us between now and 2027 is sure of a peaceful and dependable structure,” he added.

He further stated that the Accord Party remains one of the most attractive political platforms for serious politicians seeking elective office.
“If he decides to step in, we will be ready to work with him and ensure his success,” Oladeji emphasised.
Adeleke’s resignation from the PDP marks a significant development in Osun State politics, where internal party disputes have reportedly influenced several leaders’ decisions to seek alternative platforms. Analysts note that his potential move to Accord could reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2026 election.
The Accord Party’s open invitation underscores its strategic positioning as a viable and conflict-free alternative for politicians seeking stable platforms, signalling a possible realignment in Osun State politics.
As the 2026 governorship race approaches, all eyes will be on Adeleke’s next move and whether he will formally align with Accord to pursue his re-election ambitions.
