Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has stirred debate online after describing herself as “a Jesus baby” during an interview at the 2025 Fashion Awards in London.

The Crazy Tings crooner remarked while speaking with The People Gallery. When asked about her zodiac sign, Tems responded, “Oh, I’m a Jesus baby. My sign is love, peace and joy.”

Her response quickly went viral, triggering mixed reactions across social media platforms, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where users argued over the appropriateness of her statement given her status as a secular artist.

@Gigialwashere added: “I agree with her [Tems]. Grown past being a Gemini, now I identify as a Jesus baby.”

Despite the backlash, Tems has not issued any further statement regarding the viral clip. The controversy highlights ongoing debates about spirituality, personal identity, and the expectations placed on public figures, especially artists who express religious sentiments outside of traditional gospel music.
