The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has formally announced the expulsion of eleven prominent members following decisions taken at its 2025 Elective National Convention, held between 15 and 16 November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The announcement, issued as an official statement and signed by National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, confirms that the individuals concerned “no longer hold membership of the PDP nor occupy any office within the Party”.

According to the statement, the expulsions were carried out “in accordance with the Constitution of our Party (as amended)” and are considered final decisions of the national leadership. Those named include several well-known political figures: Ezenwo Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, Ayo Fayose, Umar Bature, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Mao Ohuabunwa, George Turnah, Dan Orbih, Austin Nwachukwu, Mon’d Abdulrahman, and Abraham Amah.

In the statement, the PDP cautioned the public against engaging with the expelled individuals in any capacity that implies affiliation with the Party, stressing that any actions, statements, or representations made by them henceforth should not be construed as authorised by the PDP. “Any interactions or representations made by these expelled members are not authorised by our great Party,” the statement noted. It further warned that “members of the public dealing with these individuals are doing so at their own peril”.

The move is expected to spark significant political debate, given the stature of some of the affected figures and their past roles in national and state politics. Analysts suggest that the expulsions may signal a broader internal restructuring within the PDP as it seeks to reposition itself ahead of future electoral cycles.

Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to internal discipline and organisational integrity, asserting that the decisions taken at the Ibadan convention were aimed at strengthening unity and ensuring adherence to Party principles.
