PDP national leadership appoints caretaker committees for Lagos, Ekiti

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted caretaker committees to manage party affairs in Lagos and Ekiti States, effectively dissolving the previous state executive committees in both chapters.

In a statement signed by the National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Umar Bature, the NWC invoked Section 21(2)(a-b) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended) to establish the interim structures for an initial period of 30 days or until fresh congresses produce new executives.

For Lagos State, Elder Kayode Ogunbiyi was appointed Chairman, with Chief Adele Bankole as Vice Chairman.

Other members include Mrs Akinro Bolaji Rosaline, Mrs Adebimpe Maria, Mrs Ege Allen, Mr Ifeanyi Okeke, Chief Adio Salami, Alhaji Abiola Tella, Prince Gani Ogungbayi, Mr Odum Kalu, Mr Ola Odunfa, Mrs Iberu Taiwo, Mr Solomon Yusoof, Mr Olusanya Abayomi, Mr Samson Hundeyin, Mr Oriyomi Oluwafemi, Mrs Ijeoma Eze, Mr Olayinka Samuel and Mr Jamiu Awofala.

In Ekiti State, the PDP NWC, acting pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of the party constitution, named Hon. Omolashe Lanre as Caretaker Chairman. Members of the committee are Femi Philips, Gani Bakare, Akande Babatunde, Tosin Joel, Ayilaran Modupe, Pelemo Dare, Chief Arogbodo Ayodele, Segun Olatunji, Barr. Gbenga Agbede, Sesan Owoeye, Gbenga Ojuawo, Arinde Jimoh, Adara Rotimi, Banji Adeleke and Chief Tunde Ogunleye.

Both committees have been directed to run the full affairs of the party in their respective states while strictly adhering to the PDP Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 and the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended).

“The NWC expects your exemplary conduct and strict compliance with all rules to justify the confidence reposed in you,” the statement emphasised.
