During the visit, the ambassador also presented a China-made vehicle to President Touray for use in his official duties.

Ambassador Yu stated that over the past 50 years since its establishment, ECOWAS has played a significant role in promoting regional integration, maintaining peace and stability, and advancing democratic governance in West Africa, making it the most influential sub-regional organisation in Africa.

He said the relationship between China and ECOWAS serves as a model of South–South cooperation and a vivid reflection of China–Africa friendship.

He assured that “China will share more development opportunities with countries around the world” and is “willing to accelerate the implementation of zero-tariff measures in Africa to bring new opportunities for West Africa.”

President Touray expressed gratitude for China’s assistance and support for the institutional and capacity-building of ECOWAS.
