Minister of Works, David Umahi, has disclosed that the Federal Government has invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, to audit and verify all ongoing and completed federal road projects across the country.

Umahi made this known on Thursday during the reopening of the Keffi Flyover, which collapsed on July 4, 2025, after a container-laden trailer transporting an excavator struck and damaged the structure.

According to the minister, the involvement of the anti-corruption agencies is intended to enhance transparency, ensure accountability, and strengthen public confidence in the execution of federally funded infrastructure projects.

He stated: “I want the public to know that I wrote to the ICPC and submitted all the projects undertaken by Mr President and the Ministry of Works from the very first day he assumed office.

“We asked them to visit every state in the federation, including Abuja, to scrutinise and verify these projects and take whatever action they deem necessary. This is unprecedented. I informed Mr President publicly about it yesterday, and I am proud of this process.

“We have also forwarded the same list to the EFCC. They have not fully deployed to the states yet. We are committed to transparency under President Bola Tinubu. I enjoy this job because I value hard work.”

Umahi also revealed that President Tinubu has acknowledged the outstanding debts owed to contractors and has set up a committee to review and address the liabilities.

“Please, no more protests. You will be paid. Before December 20, your payments will be processed,” he assured.

He added that the speed with which the President approved funds for the Keffi Flyover repair was remarkable, noting: within 24 hours of briefing him, Mr President released the funds for this repair. It has never happened before.”
