Following his recent call-up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, has enthusiastically declared his readiness to represent Nigeria on the international stage once again.
According to a report from the News Agency of Nigeria, Uzoho has been named alongside two other goalkeepers in head coach Eric Chelle’s 28-man squad.
In a video interview conducted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and shared on the official Super Eagles X page, Uzoho expressed his genuine excitement about reuniting with his teammates and immersing himself in the camaraderie that the national team is known for.
“I missed the boys and the camp vibe. We’ve shared challenges together and always check up on one another,” he remarked, reflecting on the strong bonds formed over years of collaboration and competition.
Uzoho emphasized that his recall to the team is not just a personal achievement but a moment of immense joy and relief. He firmly stated that representing Nigeria remains his top priority and a responsibility he cherishes deeply.
“I felt an unexplainable joy; coming back to represent Nigeria again is the most important thing for me,” he elaborated, underscoring his dedication to the national team.
The goalkeeper addressed the nature of national team selections, explaining that invitations are based on a player’s readiness and the confidence the coaching staff has in them.
“If you’re invited, it means you’re ready. The coaches and scouts know what they’re doing,” he pointed out, showcasing his respect for the decision-making processes within the team.

Touching on the potential rivalry with first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, Uzoho dismissed any notions of competition between them. He referred to Nwabali as his brother, indicating a close-knit relationship built on mutual support and encouragement.
“Stanley is my brother. We support each other and share a very close relationship,” he stated, demonstrating the unity within the squad.
This year’s tournament presents an opportunity for the team to chase their fourth continental title, having previously triumphed in the years 1980, 1994, and 2013.
His last appearance in a match for Nigeria was during an international friendly against their arch-rivals Ghana in March 2024.
