Nigerian singer Bigiano has claimed authorship of a key part of Davido’s breakthrough hit song Dami Duro, stating that he wrote the song’s hook.

The “Shayo” crooner made the assertion during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he reflected on his contributions to the music industry and his absence from the spotlight in recent years.

“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” Bigiano said, reigniting conversations around the origins of one of Afrobeats’ most iconic songs.

Speaking further in the interview, Bigiano addressed his prolonged break from the music scene, describing it as a deliberate decision rather than a setback.

“Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive,” he explained.

The singer also dismissed speculation about financial struggles during his time away from mainstream attention, insisting that he remains financially stable.

“I can’t be broke,” Bigiano said confidently, suggesting that his absence should not be mistaken for irrelevance or hardship.

His comments have since sparked debate among music fans online, with many revisiting the history of Dami Duro and calling for clarity on songwriting credits. As of now, Davido has not reacted to Bigiano’s claims.
