A tragic incident in Minna has left a community in shock after a 23-year-old man reportedly stabbed his childhood friend to death during Maghrib prayer.

Dispute over ablution water turns deadly during Maghrib prayer

The dispute began over a sachet of Pure Water meant for ablution at the mosque and quickly escalated into a deadly altercation.

Abdulazeez, the accused, struck his 20-year-old friend, Sadiq, multiple times with a knife.

Authorities have arrested Abdulazeez, who remains in detention. If charged and convicted, he would  face capital punishment under Nigerian law.

The incident has sparked outrage on why a worshipper would bring a weapon to a place of worship.
