The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Umar Muhammed, has authorised the deployment of 2,380 officers and men to strengthen the protection of critical national assets, safeguard public facilities, and ensure the safety of residents throughout the Yuletide season.

The Commandant disclosed that the deployment covers all 16 local government areas of the state, with personnel drawn from elite and specialised units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit.

A statement by the spokesman of the command, Ayoola Micheal Shola, in Ilorin on Saturday, said officers have been strategically positioned based on threat assessments and operational requirements.

Commandant Umar further noted that the command will coordinate closely with other security agencies, including local vigilantes, to ensure effective coverage, rapid response, and comprehensive security throughout the festive period.

While extending warm Christmas and New Year greetings to the people of Kwara State, the Commandant issued a stern warning to vandals and troublemakers, declaring that the NSCDC is fully prepared to confront any attempt to disrupt public peace or tamper with critical assets, and that all offenders will face the full weight of the law.
