Residents of Utako and parts of Wuye in Abuja were on Monday thrown into darkness following a technical fault on a power feeder supplying the areas, according to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC.

In a public notice dated December 22, 2025, AEDC said the blackout was caused by a fault on the feeder responsible for electricity distribution to Utako and parts of Wuye.

The company said its technical team had been deployed to address the problem and was working to restore power supply, but did not provide a timeline for restoration.

“We regret to inform you that the current power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeder serving your area,” AEDC said.
