A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Ayirimi Emami, has urged Nigerian security operatives to launch a manhunt for the killers of Emiko Onuwaje, a community leader in Warri South-West Local Government Area in the state.
Emani made the call on Monday, condemning the killing of Onuwaje in Warri at the weekend by an angry mob.
In his remarks after visiting the bereaved family, he described the murder as deeply regrettable and unacceptable.
Emani lamented that such an inhumane act could be carried out by brothers over minor differences, stressing that violence has no place in the community.
He appealed to residents of Ugborodo to remain calm and law-abiding.
The APC chieftain further called on indigenes of Ugborodo to unite and rid the community of criminal elements, assuring that ongoing efforts to accelerate development across the Ugborodo Federated Communities would not be derailed by individuals with criminal tendencies.
He said, “I urge our people to remain calm and allow police and other law enforcement agencies to get to the root of the killing of this innocent man and ultimately fish out the culprits.
“It will not be in our interest to instigate a crisis that will lead to a total breakdown of law and order. It won’t bring back the dead. Our cry is for justice for the dead and the bereaved family.
“At this time when the government is trying to bring development to our community, we should not indulge in action that will undermine the government’s efforts.”
