Nollywood actor Mike Afolarin has opened up about some of the uncomfortable experiences he has had with female fans, revealing that dealing with overzealous admirers has been one of his biggest challenges in the entertainment industry.

The actor disclosed this during a candid interview with media personality VJ Adams, where he spoke honestly about fame, fan culture, and personal boundaries.

According to Afolarin, while he appreciates the love and support from fans, some encounters have crossed the line.

He revealed that a few female fans have gone as far as kissing him without his consent, an experience he described as shocking and inappropriate.

Folarin said the incident remains one of the most ridiculous moments he has faced since becoming a public figure.

“Getting unsolicited kisses is the most ridiculous fan experience I have had,” he said. “Yeah, getting kissed without my consent.”

The actor explained that the incident happened in Lagos at a nightclub. He suggested that the environment and alcohol may have played a role in the behaviour, but stressed that it did not justify the action.

“It happened in Lagos, in the club,” he added. “So, I guess everybody was intoxicated.”

Despite the setting, Folarin made it clear that consent should never be ignored, regardless of fame, location, or circumstances. He noted that being a celebrity does not mean personal boundaries no longer exist.

The movie star used the opportunity to address fans directly, urging them to be more respectful in their interactions with public figures. He emphasized that admiration should never turn into entitlement.

Folarin stressed that consent is essential in all situations, including fan-celebrity encounters. He said fans should always ask for permission before touching, hugging, or engaging physically with celebrities.

“Consent is very important,” he said. “People should always ask before doing anything.”

His comments have sparked conversations online about fan behaviour and the pressure celebrities face in public spaces.

Others pointed out that male celebrities often face such experiences but rarely talk about them openly.

Mike Folarin has built a reputation as one of Nollywood’s rising stars, earning praise for his performances and on-screen charisma. However, his experience highlights the less glamorous side of fame and the challenges that come with constant public attention.

By sharing his story, Folarin hopes to encourage more respectful fan culture and remind the public that celebrities deserve the same personal boundaries as anyone else.
