Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has suffered a major setback after Twitch placed his account under a temporary suspension, just days after he made history with a viral livestream featuring Afrobeats superstar Davido.

The suspension came as a surprise to many fans, especially because it followed one of the biggest moments of Carter Efe’s digital career.

On December 17, 2025, the comedian hosted a highly publicised livestream with Davido that attracted massive attention both within and outside Africa. The broadcast quickly went viral and dominated online conversations.

Following the livestream, Carter Efe recorded a historic rise on the platform. He gained more than 405,000 new followers in a short period, pushing him to the top of Africa’s Twitch rankings.

The milestone made him the most-followed African streamer on Twitch, overtaking several established names in the Nigerian streaming space.

However, the celebration was short-lived. On Monday, Carter Efe announced that Twitch had placed a four-month suspension on his account.

According to him, the platform cited violations of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines as the reason for the action.

Despite the severity of the punishment, Twitch did not provide detailed information on the exact rules that were breached.

The lack of clarity immediately sparked confusion and frustration among his supporters, many of whom questioned why such a major sanction followed such a successful and widely celebrated broadcast.

The suspension came shortly after Carter Efe surpassed popular Nigerian streamers, including Shank Comics.

His livestream with Davido also ranked among the most-viewed broadcasts on Twitch in recent times, further highlighting the scale of the moment and the impact of the collaboration.

Soon after the news broke, fans took to social media to express their support. Many flooded Carter Efe’s comment sections with encouraging messages, describing him as a “joy giver” who brings laughter and positivity to millions.

Others appealed directly to Twitch, urging the platform to review the decision and consider lifting or reducing the suspension.

The situation also sparked intense discussions online. Some social media users suggested that the suspension may have resulted from mass reporting.

According to these claims, certain remarks or behaviours during the livestream may have triggered coordinated reports against Carter Efe’s account.

However, these claims remain unverified, as Twitch has not issued an official statement confirming the cause.

Adding to the confusion, rumours began circulating that Carter Efe had also been banned from other digital platforms.

These reports were later debunked, with confirmations that the suspension only applies to his Twitch account. His presence on other social media platforms remains unaffected.

For many followers, the timing of the suspension has been particularly disappointing. The incident occurred during the festive period, a time when content creators usually experience increased engagement, brand deals, and audience growth.

Supporters believe the suspension has interrupted what could have been an even bigger run for the comedian.

Despite the setback, fans remain optimistic. Many believe Carter Efe’s influence and popularity will not fade, even during the suspension.

The development has also reignited conversations about content moderation on global platforms.

Critics have questioned how viral success, mass reporting, and unclear enforcement policies can sometimes collide, leaving creators vulnerable without clear explanations.

As of now, Carter Efe has not announced whether he has formally appealed the suspension or received further communication from Twitch.

The streaming platform has also not released a detailed public statement explaining the decision.

For his supporters, hope remains high that the issue will be resolved sooner rather than later. Many continue to call on Twitch to provide transparency and fairness, while others encourage the comedian to remain focused and resilient.

While the suspension represents a sudden pause in Carter Efe’s historic rise on Twitch, fans believe it is far from the end of his story.

To them, the moment remains a reminder of his impact, his reach, and his ability to command global attention, on and off the screen.
