Donald Trump is facing heavy internet mockery after suggesting the U.S. should rename the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

The President successfully renamed Lake Ontario to “Lake America,” after previously renaming the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America.”

It comes amid increasingly tense relations with Canada over trade and defense contributions.

Donald Trump has triggered widespread internet mockery and geopolitical double-takes after suggesting that the United States should rename the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Speaking during an Oval Office signing ceremony where he issued an executive order to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America,” the billionaire politician turned his attention to global waterways.

“We have a gulf, and we have a lake. Now all we need is an ocean,” Trump said, referencing his earlier order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”

“So maybe we’ll have to change the name of the Atlantic and/or the Pacific. Maybe we’ll change them both.”

“This would be less embarrassing if he was diagnosed with a brain-altering affliction very soon,” a Reddit user wrote. “He’s like the crazy uncle that makes half your family cancel for Thanksgiving.”

Someone else said, “He obviously has some form of dementia, but his goons refuse to admit it and rather play ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ with him instead. He has the mentality of a spoiled toddler, and they are letting him get away with whatever he wants.”

“Yes, let’s have a Gulf of America, Lake America, and the American Ocean and the American Ocean. What a f-cking dipsh-t,” a third user sarcastically commented, while another added, “Might as well just rename the Earth to America.”

Trump’s executive order means changes will be made to how the lake will appear on United States maps.

Amid the already tense relations with Canada, he teased the new name for Lake Ontario in a TikTok clip last Wednesday.

“We’re gonna make a little change, we’re gonna call it something different than Lake Ontario,” he warned. “We’re gonna call it Lake America. And all it takes is a good pen and some intelligence.”

It comes as the relationship between the U.S. and Canada has soured to an all-time low amid high-level disagreements on trade and defense matters.

Speaking in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said, “Canada has been ripping us off for a long time on trade,” per PEOPLE.

“They want to be treated like they’re a state and we just can’t do that anymore,” he added. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.”

Since he returned to office, he has been critical of the country’s northern neighbors, even suggesting that the U.S. could annex Canada as the 51st state.

He has also threatened to slap a 50% tariff on Canadian-made cars, trucks, and auto parts, which will take effect from January 1, 2027.

Trump has been on what can be considered a sweeping change to several landmarks in the country.

After calling the area adjoining the Reflecting Pool “filthy,” Trump had serious work carried out on it and had workers paint it in a color he has called “American flag blue,” per AP News.

However, the project has fallen below standard, mainly due to algae growth and a torn lining.

The Kennedy Center has also not been spared, as Trump moved to add his name to the building. However, a court has since ruled that it should be removed.

He has also demolished what was known as the East Wing to erect a $400 million ballroom that has been subjected to court and congressional injunctions.

Back in July, he signed proclamations reducing the sizes of two Utah national monuments, the Bears Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
