Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has shared her excitement about meeting her musical idol, Rihanna, and how much the experience meant to her.
In a recent interview with ETalk TV, the Mavin Records star described the global icon as “an amazing person and somebody to look up to.” She expressed joy in knowing she had made the right choice by choosing Rihanna as her inspiration.
Recalling their first encounter, Ayra Starr revealed that Rihanna told her she’s a fan of her music a moment that left her both shocked and delighted.
“She [Rihanna] is such an amazing person. To be honest, it [meeting her] still feels like a dream. I love her so much. People always say, ‘never meet your idols’, but I’m so glad I met mine because she’s just an amazing person. And the fact that she loves my music; I’m my favourite artist’s favourite artist,” she said.
Continuing, Ayra added: “She’s such an amazing artist, an amazing woman, an amazing person in general; somebody to look up to. I know I chose a great role model, and being able to be around her, I usually don’t know what to do with myself. When I get nervous around her, I try to make unnecessary jokes.”
The singer also shared her hopes of collaborating with Rihanna in the near future.
