‎Troops of 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 1, Joint Task Force South South, Operation Delta Safe, have arrested 183 suspected internet fraudsters and a suspected cultist during operations in Delta State.

‎The army said the operation was based on credible intelligence and carried out on July 19, 2025, in Warri. According to a statement issued by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the suspects, all males between the ages of 16 and 29, were arrested from several apartments alleged to be training hubs for cybercrime activities.

‎Items recovered include 274 assorted laptops, 87 mobile phones, nine laptop chargers, a table phone, and two WiFi devices. The statement said investigations are ongoing and necessary actions would be taken in line with the law.

‎In a related development, troops apprehended one Mr. Igbe Lucky Chika, 26, alleged to be a member of the Viking cult group, in Ezionun Community. He was found with a locally made firearm, an axe, a cutlass, two mobile phones, and a Toyota Camry with registration number Delta ASB 41 BE.

‎The army said preliminary investigation confirmed the suspect’s affiliation with the cult group, and he would be handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

‎Brigadier General MA Shonibare, Commander of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, commended the troops for their professionalism and reiterated the military’s commitment to ridding society of criminal elements.
