The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has died at the age of 71.
His death was confirmed by the member representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, who said the monarch died after a period of illness at a medical facility in Abuja.
Born in 1954, Dr. Ibrahim Bello was appointed the 15th Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015, by former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari.
He ascended the throne following the death of his brother, Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Danbaba, who died in Abuja on March 5, 2015.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, in a post on his verified social media handles, expressed condolences over the death of the traditional ruler, quoting a Quranic verse: “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
“May Allah have mercy on His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsinan Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello. May Allah forgive him, grant him a peaceful resting place, and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen,” the governor wrote.
Details about funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
