The attractively discounted rate drew a large number of eager buyers, and the stock was reportedly sold out within hours. Following this, the man assured customers that a new batch would soon arrive and encouraged them to pay in advance to reserve their bags.

Believing the offer was genuine due to his earlier delivery, over 1,000 individuals allegedly sent him ₦20,000 each in anticipation of receiving their rice.
