Woman Shares How She Went Blind During Pregnancy, Lost Baby

A Nigerian woman has shared a deeply emotional account of how she temporarily lost her eyesight and eventually lost her unborn child due to what she claims was negligence by hospital staff.

In a viral video posted on TikTok by user @mrs.temishe, she recounted the traumatic ordeal that occurred during her third pregnancy. She explained that the situation could have been prevented if medical professionals had acted swiftly and if better facilities were available.

According to her, the complications began with an extremely high blood sugar level that led to her being admitted to the hospital. Not long after, she started experiencing excruciating migraines and pain around her eye, which worsened over time.

“I was pregnant with my third child and was admitted for very high blood sugar. I started experiencing intense migraine on the right side of my head and eye. They referred me to an eye hospital. Eventually, I lost my sense of smell and couldn’t perceive anything,” she recounted.

She was eventually scheduled for surgery, and upon entering the operating room, she was startled by the poor state of the facility.

“I entered the theatre and the first thing I saw was a generator. That was when I knew things were really bad,” she stated.

Though she was discharged after the procedure, things took a turn for the worse at home when she began bleeding. She was rushed back to the hospital where she had conceived, only to be told the heartbreaking news her baby no longer had a heartbeat.

Mrs. Temishe revealed that the temporary loss of her sight was due to a hormone-related condition that can affect pregnant women if left untreated.
