Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, has formally withdrawn as surety for Sulaiman Aminu in an ongoing criminal case with the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Charge No. FHC/KN/CR/93/2025).

In a letter to the Deputy Registrar of the Federal High Court in Kano, Namadi said his decision was based on “personal reasons” and a desire to “safeguard his integrity and the dignity of his office as a public servant.”

A statement signed by his media aide, Abdullatif Auta, clarified that Namadi’s earlier decision to stand as surety was a personal one and not influenced by politics or any form of endorsement.

“My role as surety was informed purely by personal volition, in line with the legal provisions, and motivated by longstanding family ties and humanitarian considerations,” he said. “This should not be misconstrued as support for drug-related activities or an endorsement of the alleged offence.”

Namadi also stated his continued loyalty to the Kano State government.

“I remain loyal to His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the State Executive Council, and the good people of Kano State,” he said, noting that he is available for any clarification the court may require.

He further expressed support for ongoing efforts against drug abuse in Kano.
