Christantus Uche just arrived at Getafe last summer, but he has already built a strong reputation at the club
Two weeks ago, Barcelona confirmed that their wonderkid Lamine Yamal will wear the number 10 jersey. Now, another Getafe, another Spanish LaLiga club have handed their number 10 shirt to Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche ahead of next season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Uche had a big first season at Getafe despite joining the LaLiga club from third-tier Spanish side Ceuta for €500k.
The 22-year-old registered four goals and six assists in 33 league appearances for Los Azulones last season.
That saw him earn a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles and his value rise astronomically to €18 million, per Transfermarkt.
Uche has already attracted links to Premier League clubs like Leeds United, Chelsea, West Ham, and LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid. But nothing has emerged from those talks yet.
The Super Eagles star is physical and has great ball retention abilities. He can also be a deadly finisher when he gets opportunities in the box.
Uche has already started pre-season at Getafe. And it seems he will play an important role for them next season.
This is as the club have handed him the number 10 jersey, per the club’s website. The number 10 shirt is probably the most iconic number in football, especially in Spain.

Will Christantus Uche leave Getafe this summer?
Christantus Uche has already attracted many clubs this summer, but nothing has happened yet.
Getafe have a €25 million release clause set for the Super Eagles star, which is quite a decent fee for most Premier League clubs and the top LaLiga sides.

Although nothing has emerged yet, there could still be changes in the coming weeks. Moreover, the transfer market will still be open for well over a month.
Nonetheless, Uche still has three years left on his contract, and Getafe will want him to stay with them for one more season and help them compete in the LaLiga next season.
