JUST IN: Ondo Reps member, thousands of supporters dump PDP for APC

Festus Akingbaso, the House of Representatives member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency of Ondo State has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Akingbaso resigned from the party alongside thousands of his supporters on Thursday, July 31.

They all joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and were received by the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in Idanre town.

Represented by Olayide Adelami, the deputy governor, Aiyedatiwa commended the lawmaker for leading his supporters to the APC.

He said, “I want to congratulate our people in Idanre and Ifedore LGAs for having a worthy son, who has been representing you well at the National Assembly. Festus Akingbaso has witnessed all that the APC is doing in Ondo State and at the federal level. We are happy to receive him and members of the PDP.

“The Federal constituency used to be divided for APC and PDP, but with the defection of Hon. Akingbaso to our party, Idanre and Ifedore will henceforth record 100 per cent votes for the APC,” he said.

He further called on the defectors to ensure that they put in their best in supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and his Renewed Hope Agenda.
