The elimination of fuel subsidies in particular has taught Nigerians how to manage according to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

President Bola Tinubu told a personal story about a friend who because of the high cost of gas switched from driving five Rolls-Royces to a Honda.

On Monday, Dec 23, the president shared the story while speaking with reporters at his home in Bourdillon which is located in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos State.

“My friend used to have about five Rolls-Royces; the other day I saw him in his Honda; he said that is when you (Tinubu) put me, then I said I didn’t put you there, he said because of fuel price, he could no longer maintain a five-limo type of vehicle.”

The President added: “It is not negative to learn to manage. You learn to control your electricity bill, switch off the light, let’s learn to manage.”

Citizens took issue with this statement pointing out that while the government has refused to reduce its size the masses are expected to do so.
